Associated Terminals Invests in Future with Two New Cranes
March 01, 2010 —
Associated Terminals recently ordered two Generation 5, Mobile Harbour Cranes from Gottwald Port Technology of Düsseldorf, Germany. The new cranes will be used for transloading a variety of cargoes, including bulk materials and general cargo, between ocean-going vessels and river barges on the Lower Mississippi River.
Conrad Industries, with over 60 years of experience, was commissioned to build two new deck barges for these pedestal-mounted cranes. These new deck barges are 250ft x 72ft x 12ft.
This order brings to four, the total number of floating cranes Associated Terminals has ordered from Gottwald. These new cranes will join the “T. Lange”, a Generation 5 floating crane in operation since January 2009, and the “Glenn S”, a Generation 4 machine in operation since 2007. The two new cranes are the most powerful in AT’s fleet and among the most powerful on the Lower Mississippi River.
The motto, which has guided the spirit and culture of Associated Terminals for the past 13 years, has been “The Ability and Attitude to Accomplish Anything”! This simple yet powerful phrase has captured the essence of Associated and accurately describes the strength and determination shown by each and every team member. These derrick barges will be christened the “ABILITY” and “ATTITUDE” in honor of every single member of Associated Terminals stevedoring family.
“As one of the largest stevedoring and terminal management firms in the Gulf South, we are committed to the continued expansion of equipment, facilities, capabilities, and geographic areas of service. Our first two Gottwald cranes put us in a position to offer enhanced services and performance to our worldwide customer base,” stated David Fennelly, President of Associated Terminals. “This exceptional experience with regard to performance and reliability made the decision quite easy to order two more cranes from Gottwald.”
